{"id":1065,"date":"2010-06-08T12:59:57","date_gmt":"2010-06-08T16:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/get-the-nack.org\/?p=1065"},"modified":"2010-06-10T15:43:59","modified_gmt":"2010-06-10T19:43:59","slug":"nack-greenland-paddle-building-class-in-li-press","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/get-the-nack.org\/?p=1065","title":{"rendered":"NACK Greenland Paddle Building Class in LI Press"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re happy to report the NACK\u00a0 greenland paddle making class last Sunday was filled to capacity and there are now 10 new greenland paddles soon to be in the water.\u00a0 A video of the event is even featured on the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a title=\"Greenland Paddle Class LI Press\" href=\"http:\/\/www.longislandpress.com\/video\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Long Island Press<\/span> website<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/get-the-nack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Chris-Raab.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1067\" title=\"Chris Raab\" src=\"https:\/\/get-the-nack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Chris-Raab.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/get-the-nack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Chris-Raab.jpg 448w, https:\/\/get-the-nack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Chris-Raab-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Chris Raab on the left of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a title=\"Tuktu Paddles\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tuktupaddles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tuktu Paddles<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span> made the trek\u00a0 from south Jersey to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><strong><a title=\"Captain Kayak\" href=\"http:\/\/captainkayak.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Captain Kayak<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/span> shop in Sayville for the big event.\u00a0 The air was filled with the aroma of fresh cedar and the floors covered in deep piles of cedar shavings as two by fours turned into authentic looking Inuit paddles. Chris supplied the wood, help us determine the correct measurements\u00a0 and brought a collection of block planes, spoke shaves and chisels for all to use.\u00a0 With some expert guidance it was amazing what the participants were able to turn out in just a few hours.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/get-the-nack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Lineitup.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1068\" title=\"Lineitup\" src=\"https:\/\/get-the-nack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Lineitup.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/get-the-nack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Lineitup.jpg 448w, https:\/\/get-the-nack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Lineitup-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A big thanks to Chris for his patience, humor and expertise and to NACK Director Ann Kaiser for setting up the class.\u00a0 Chris not only builds some of the most beautiful paddles you&#8217;ll ever see but he&#8217;s also a great instructor.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Captain Jerry Collins (Captain Kayak himself) and the staff who were\u00a0 kind enough to let us use the shop.
