See our Current Training Schedule

The Atlantic Division of the ACA has put together a full week of training at the ACA camp at Sebago Lake in Harriman State Park. Training will be available for levels 1- 4 of canoe and kayaks, by some of the highest certified instructors in the ACA. For those looking to become ACA certified instructors, mid week is when you want to come. There will be instructor training courses (IDW/ICE) given Tuesday through Friday for Level 2 Essential Instructor for canoe or kayak. The weekends will be for those looking to improve there skills, with skill courses, for levels 1 – 4. If you have never been a boat before or you are ready to learn to roll, or somewhere in between there is a place for you. There are 1/2 or full day or even Multan classes. Each day you will be on the water by 9:00 AM till to noon and on the water again from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm times vary depending on the class and instructor. The more you know about paddling the easier it becomes.  More info on the SKSA Website.

  1. Alan -cool to see you on this post. I have not seen you in about 10 years down at Everglade City. I would suggest that you take a course that supports the way you professionally use the information. So Instructor at course levels 2-3 will likely be great professional development for a salty – experienced fellow as yourself. Smiles to you brother – Justin

  2. Hooper says:

The ACA has different instructor disciplines for canoe, sea kayak and whitewater kayak. I would imagine that for an experienced instructor Level 2 or 3 Certification might be appropriate. That will take you 4 or 5 days to complete. The ACA logo at the top of the page is a link to their site. Or you can cut-and-paste this link. (sorry, can’t post html code in a reply)

    Good luck

  3. Alan Coulter says:

Greetings! I have been teaching canoeing and sea kayaking for years for Outward Bound and NOLS — grandfathered in without certifications, so it’s time I got started. Some discussion of at what level I should try to enter at would be helpful.
